Following an organisational restructure, a rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced ENGINEERING TEAM LEADER - TRANSMISSION SWITCHES within the Networks Division of a major power utility, to take up an exciting role in Australia.

Sponsorship for residency in Australia will be provided for a non Australian national.

PURPOSE

Lead and guide a team of transmission plant specialists to ensure that all necessary standards and specifications pertaining to transformers and reactive gear and associated transmission plant are developed, regularly reviewed and made available to section customers and stakeholders.  
 
This role is also responsible for the introduction of new technology through relevant primary plant and systems to make the transmission network a safe, reliable, effective, efficient and environmentally suitable electrical power delivery system.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Power Engineering and be eligible for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia. Post graduate qualifications in engineering or related field are desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams of 5 to 20 people (including motivating, coaching and developing teams, dealing with conflict resolution and driving for performance).
  • Extensive experience with business and quality management systems.
  • Expert technical experience in the Network business associated with the design & cost estimating of distribution overhead lines, substations and facilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of other disciplines associated with network facilities, including transmission lines and cables, substations, protection, SCADA & communications and distribution.
  • 10+ years experience in transmission and/or distribution networks.
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise and critically assess own performance essentials.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to escalate risks and issues on civil structural issues
  • Driver's License.


REMUNERATION
  • The right Candidate can expect to earn AUD 150,000 to 160,000 per annum including superannuation.
  • State funded Living Away From Home Allowance (LAFHA) for eligible applicants. This may equate to around AUD 11,000 to 14,000 per annum, free of income tax.
