DUTIES

  • Provide anaesthetic services in accordance with level of skills and experience.
  • Perform general practice and Accident and Emergency services.
  • Manage all patients admitted to the hospital, consulting with specialists where appropriate.
  • Perform assessments, provide treatment and referrals to patients in alignment with regional protocols. 
  • Provide on-call service to the hospital after hours.
  • Provide services and perform clinics in remote communities.
  • Support nursing and allied health staff in performance of general health functions.
  • Perform various administrative and managerial duties as directed by the Seniour Medical Officer.
  • Play an active role in furthering local education needs by identifying, planning and evaluating teaching / learning activities to meet these needs.
  • Provide on-site teaching to medical staff, nurses, students and health workers. 
  • Attend recommended post graduate educational courses.  


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Medical qualifications either from Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Ireland or Canada.
  • At least 5 years post graduate experience in Anaesthetics.
  • Keen interest in working with Aboriginal people.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member.


PREFERABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience in cross-cultural environment.
  • Experience and/or a sincere interest in Public Health and commitment to primary health programmes.
  • Experience in the rural health sector.


REMUNERATION

  • AUD 315,000 to 350,000 per annum plus benefits.
  • The salary package and allowances depend on the skills and experience.
