Our Client operates a Power / Desalination Plant located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Due to project expansion a MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN / WORKSHOP MACHINIST is urgently needed in the Mechanical Department.


DESCRIPTION
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, Gauges & Dial indicators.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances
  • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
  • Confer with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information
  • Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed
  • Recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency
  • Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance
  • Follow up regular preventive maintenance on workshop machines
 
 
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
  • Male.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Certified workshop technical course.
  • At least 7 years experience as machinist.
  • Well versed in industrial safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of machines such as lathe, milling, surface grinding, drilling, power hacksaw including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings, equipment assembly drawings, technical drawing and blueprints.
  • Good English communication skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details and ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Disciplined, with initiative, reliable, consistent, creative, self-motivated and resourceful.
  • Willing to participate in any maintenance work. 
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and including silent hours depending on the job requirements.
  • Resident in the UAE.
 
DESIRABLES
  • Power plant experience. 

REMUNERATION
  • AED 8,700 to 9,500 per month (includes accommodation and transport allowances), depending on experience and qualifications.
