Our client is a Power and Desalination Plant located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Due to project expansion an IT / NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR is required immediately.
DESCRIPTION The IT / Network Administrator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with network application, mail administration, coordination with plant administrators in various units, familiarity with procurement systems, IT infrastructure management, handling of LAN / WAN activities. This will include regular interaction with the procurer, managing the billing system, and performing commercial / contractual analysis. - Administer network workstations, utilising one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols and Windows based operating systems.
- Implementing, configuring, maintaining and administering SQL Servers, Microsoft Windows Enterprise / Advanced Servers and Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2007.
- Evaluate and / or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
- Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, file servers, ethernet networks, network cabling, other related equipment, devices, and systems.
- Adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment. All Windows based.
- Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, managing security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
- Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
- Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, and other applications.
- Assist users in maximising use of networks and computing systems.
- Prepare the IT Budget.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS- Male
- Bachelor Degree in Electronics & Telecommunications or Computer Science.
- Minimum six years experience as LAN engineer.
- Minimum three year of networking experience.
- Should have handled EDP department independently where LAN / WAN configuration with latest software installation and systems service and management.
- Must be proficient in implementing, configuring, maintaining and administering SQL Servers, Microsoft Windows Enterprise / Advanced Servers and Microsoft Exchange 2003 and 2007.
- Excellent Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software.
- Excellent knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software.
- Excellent knowledge of computer and / or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
- Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
- Ability to take direction and responsibility and handle multiple assignments.
- Disciplined, initiative, reliable, consistent, and attentive to details.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a team player.
- On call 24 hours and 7 days a week (evenings, weekends, or if on leave) when essential.
DESIRABLE - Knowledge of power plants would be helpful.
REMUNERATION - AED 14,000 to 16,000 per month (includes accommodation and transport allowances), depending on experience and qualifications.
